TIBETAN BUDDHIST PRAYER WHEEL

DESCRIPTION
A beautiful vintage handheld prayer wheel manufactured approximately in the mid 20th century Tibet for traditional buddhist rituals. The blue imitation turquoise cylinder is fitted with filigree-decorated whitemetal or low-grade silver mounts. A metal counterweight is attached with a metal chain to the cylinder. Inside the cylinder is an old and fragile paper roll which probably contains buddhist mantras and prayers. The wooden handle is fitted with nickelsilver decorative mounts.

CONDITION
The item is in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and overall wear. The wheel spins smoothly.
