Bhutan / End of the 19th century
A fine and heavy bhutanese straight sword with low-grade silver mounts. Grip with a finely pierced pommel cap and is totally covered in thin silver wire. A wide single-fullered blade with an italian style sickle marking. A wooden scabbard with floral decorated white metal mounts. The middle part of the scabbard is covered in manta ray skin.
Italian style sickle markings were used throughout the world often by local craftsmen copying the markings from well-known italian export blades.
