An original Finnish WWII medal, early variation of the 3rd class Cross of Liberty (Vapaudenristi) with swords, awarded for the merits of the Finnish Continuation War (1941-1945). The medal is of black-lacquered iron with gilded details attached with the red-and-white fabric ribbon. The medal is designed by the famous Akseli Gallen-Kallela. This example is one of 11 400 crosses manufactured but an early variation with lacquer paint, gilded date and double-sided rosette.
 
CONDITION
The medal is in good vintage condition with some signs of oxidation and wear.
