GERMAN ‘HIRSCFÄNGER’ HUNTING SWORD
GERMAN C. 1900–1920
Hunting dagger with a single-fullered blade without etching or decorations. Grip made of staghorn and decorated with brass acorns. The gilded bronze shellguard engraved with stags. Leather scabbard with brass mounts.
The blade of the dagger is unsharpened. Usually these were merely made for stabbing and most of the time they served as a status symbols of jaeger hunters when getting together in hunting associations.
The dagger is in very good vintage condition.
