Sweden / 18th and 19th century

A Swedish infantry hanger or cutlass M/1747 which saw its main action during the 1808–1809 Finnish War between Sweden and Russia. The model was stylistically based in the early cavalry hilts from the 1700s combined with a short strongly curved blade. The typical stamp P is found at the base of the blade.
